“If, when you wake up in the morning, you can think of nothing but writing…then you are a writer.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke

After hearing this saying in the movie, Sister Act 2, it inspired JT Adeline to push herself forward and make her dream a reality. She is the author of A Day As Dark As Night, and A Day Without A Night, the first two books in The Dark As Night Trilogy. She is currently working on the third and final book to her trilogy; A Day Yet To Come. JT lives in Minnesota with her husband and two grown sons. If she is not writing, you can usually find her in her art room, spending time with family and friends, or outside with her beloved American Bulldog, Mylo.

STANDARDISHUE INTERVIEW

Katie: Would you share a special moment from another story you’ve written?

JT: Here is a paragraph from my story, A Day Without A Night (book 2 in the Dark As Night Trilogy) released in 2016, that made me sit back and scream YES!

“Riebl stopped, taking in jagged breaths, turning to the left to stare at a painting on the wall. The hand-made oak frame meant nothing to him. The fact that the portrait was hand-painted with the richest of oils held no meaning. He reached for his scabbard at his side to find it empty. With flaring temper, Riebl reached to the small of his back and extracted his knife from its sheath, driving it straight through Merlin’s face. The sound of the ripping canvas and crackling paint only encouraged him on. He plunged his knife over and over until the painted wizard was a shredded mess.”

Katie: List five adjectives to describe yourself.

JT: Stubborn, creative, spoiled, caring and brat

Katie: Name one of your favorite things about someone in your family.

JT: My grandfather, Boppa, was the best storyteller.

Katie: What are your pet peeves or interesting things about you that you dislike?

JT: I do not like being told what to do! Sometimes I have to literally bite my tongue to keep comments to myself.

Katie: If you were to get a permanent tattoo done, what would it be and where?

JT: I already have six! My favorite is a butterfly with my son’s first initials; T & J, on my inner right wrist. (Where do you think JT comes from?)

Katie: You have to wear a t-shirt with one word on it for the rest of your life. Which would you choose?

JT: Brave-I have to remind myself not to be afraid to try new things.

Brave is a great word to wear. I could use that reminder from time to time myself. 🙂

Thanks, Caroline! It’s so easy to say, strong…but having bravery, I think, enhances strength. Being brave opens a lot of doors for me!
